I am a University of Alberta Bachelor of Education Graduate and PTS certified personal trainer, who is also a Certified Physical Prep Specialist and Certified Football Prep Specialist. This greatly helps with setting clients up for success. As well as those certifications, I also have my Speed & Agility Certification, Sports Nutrition Coach , Program Design Specialist, Weightlifting Performance Coach, Sports Performance Coach from the National Sports Performance Association.
I focus on positive reinforcement and a team approach in achieving goals with my clients. With lots of experience in developing weight loss programs and coaching young athletes, primarily in the football community, I feel training should be a joint effort. In today’s world having someone that you can count on is a must. I will supply clients with a custom, individual fitness and weight loss plan, so that their goals can be achieved.
Training is a massive field, and my focus is always on technique first, then introducing new exercises. What separates me from the rest is, I genuinely want to change your life. I believe that success is measured on how we can make positive changes, not only with our physical body but also, with our emotional and social state of mind. - Endurance- is the ability for muscles to repeatedly contract against resistance for a certain amount of time. Muscle endurance can be increased by adding reputations to sets so that muscles are under tension longer. Holding movements increase time under tension as well.
- Strength – is when muscles are used to apply force. Strength is the maximum output that a muscle can do in a single effort against some form of resistance. To increase strength weight must be increased.
- Power – Maximum output in a limited amount of time. This concept is very important to athletes as quick powerful movements are in evident in several sports.
- Cardiovascular – The ability for the body to deliver oxygen throughout the body. When cardio is trained the heart and lungs are strengthened which can decrease resting hearts. This helps the body run more efficiently.
- Flexibility – Deals with range of motion around a joint. Increasing range of motion decreases injuries and allows the body to move more freely . Stretching increases flexibility and should be done daily.
- Joint Mobility -is defined as: the degree to which an articulation (where two bones meet) is allowed to move before being restricted by surrounding tissues (ligaments/tendons/muscles etc.)… otherwise known as the range of uninhibited movement around a joint.
- Joint Stability - is defined as: the ability to maintain or control joint movement or position. Stability is achieved by the coordinating actions of surrounding tissues and the neuromuscular system
- Speed – Determines how fast a movement is done. Holding movements and slowing them down puts muscle under tension longer which can strengthen them.
- Coordination – The ability to do a variety of movement patterns at the same time.
- Balance – Is the ability to control your bodies center of gravity in relation to your base of support. Your base of support refers to width between your feet.
